Things have been going pretty badly with my husband.(lazy bastard) I guess it shouldn't shock me that this year after I carefully planned his gift and wrapped it, (regardless of his recent/constant/always gone on behavior)he purchased me a "gift Card" to a place 20 miles from here. My question is... Why are women blamed for marrying male blunders? Why is it that men push the concept of acceptance of this thoughltess behavior with statements like "awe, shucks, he's a guy!" As if that explains it all? Why don't they all agree to uphold a better standard, so that their wives can be happier?

See?! people find it offensive that I should expect more out of my partner. I just think it's so silly how many women go unrecognized in their relationship, it's not about "unappreciated, it's about ignored completely. He's been told many times what I wanted for X-mas by other people that he asked. yet because of his last minute thing, he just didn't do it. POor husband.. he's so retarded.. good thing I'm here to take care of him and wash his draws.

Some guys try hard to keep their wives happy. Others don't. You've got the wrong pick of the litter.

Anyways, despite the distance, a gift card is pretty nice. Not really from your husband though, considering it's your money that's on that gift card, so it's not really much of a gift, it's just you buying something for yourself.

Yikes! As a guy, husband, sometimes-slacker- most of the time I consider myself a good decent person just working hard supporting my family. I'll admit that my social calendar would go to hell without my wife, and all of those holidays and birthdays and anniversaries would likely not be remembered... but not for lack of caring. Luckily my wife and I have fallen into our best supporting roles... but I also realize the importance of showing her I care... and my instinct is to say that your husband probably needs to wake up and focus on what is truly important... you! But do try to be a little more understanding... the lazy bastard comments wont help! Best wishes!

I think that most men do not know what to give their wives, mine included. I have gotten some weeeiiiiirrrdd gifts the last 15 years!!

It really is the thought that counts, although sometimes I look at stuff and think WHAT WAS HE THINKING.

At least he did try.

LMAO!!
keep it real.
complain, but make it not like really serious...
kinda fall all on him an go.... ooooooooh....
this is EXACTLY what i was wanting all year!!!!!!
remember i asked u for it like everyday since we met???
~an give him a look~
he should know what u like by now..
tell him to give it some effort....
or my favorite...
bust out crying (fake of course but he dont know that) then when he gets over concerned just tell him its cause u love the present to death...
then suddenly stop an give him that AS IF look....
lol basically...
be dramatic an playful but let him know you really do feel his gifts are a reflection of his feelings.. so he should put effort into it... that way you might avoid deep argument or fight....
thats what i do.
it works.
but you know your man best.
get at him in a (non abusive wife) way lol
good luck....

You are tired of all his half a s s edness. He is not reciprocating your thoughtfulness. You have a right to be upset. As a husband, he is not responsible for your happiness, but he should empower you to make yourself happy. He's sorry. Get a boyfriend. Who cares at this point.

we have no real idea when we marry someone how it will all turn out, some men are just insensitive, and don't put alot of thought or effort into things. thats just the way some men are, they are thoughtless, and not much we can do.

We men are scared to death to buy you the wrong gift. If it's to small we didn't pay enough attention to you, if it's to big we're calling you fat. If it has a cord, we're slave drivers, if it's battery operated we're sex maniacs. See what I mean, or should I go on. Please be happy you get to pick out something you really want.

Since you obviously aren't happy with his gift to you, what do you expect him to consider a "better standard"? I'd reccomend that next time he get you nothing, since you're just going to moan about it anyway! Different strokes for different folks. You are not him & he is not you! Grow up & give the guy a friggin' break.
