I keep having the braxton hicks contractions, not really regular but they are a little more uncomfortable, probably have about 5 to 8 of them in a hour and I have some menstrual like cramping with them also sometimes and I have shortness of breath sometimes with them. I am 38 weeks. I really don't know what to look for in order for me to call my doctor. Could you give me some signs to look for. Thanks

If contractions start getting closer together, definatly call your doctor. also, if you feel a flood of liquid escAPE or lose control of your baldder, call your doctor. if you relax, drink water and lay down an they seem to go away, they may just be braxton hicks. try getting ina tub full of warm (not hot) water and relaxing. beleive me even if youre in labor, as long as your water hasnt broke, you have time to take a bath. Relax and try not to think about whats happening. if they go away, go to bed and sleep. if they dont, call the doctor. if you have a discharge of green or yellow liquid (not piss) GO TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIANTLY. Youre baby is in trouble. this means merconium and that puts the baby in jeaoardy because that stuff gets in his/er lungs and messes them up

If the contractions get harder..... and more regular.... or if you lose the mucus plug or your water breaks.... call the doctor and go to the hospital.

Labor can take some time.... and going in too early will not be as comfortable as riding out the early labor in the comfort of your home.

Given how far along you are... you are probably in labor. Congratulations!

God bless you with an easy birth and a healthy baby. Amen.

You may be, and likely are, very slightly dialated. With my second child, my wife had contractions 6 or 8 minutes apart for days, before it was technically labor enough to go to the hospital (when her water broke). That period of time was likely less than an hour...

Good Luck. God Bless. Merry Christmas.

Hey, call your doctor, he/she's going to want to know that you'll be going to the hospital soon, and will want to tell you when you'll know it's time to go in...

You need to call your doctor no matter how unsure you are of what's happening, i wouldn't recommend yahoo answers though... Don't worry if your driving him nuts, better to be safe than sorry.
