I am very confused about this thing called the Christmas Holidays. They talk about it being about Jesus's birth, but they have church on alternate days so it doesn't interfere with their family day. The tree always has to be put up along with the lights and outside decorations, so you can show everyone you are in the Christmas spirit. Please answer me if you can why would we want to give someone else something for our birthday instead of getting one ourselves. Are you confused yet? I am.

To answer the question about churches being closed on Christmas day, I have never heard of that. I know Baptist's still have Church. I am pretty sure that the Catholic religion also still has their midnight Mass. The tree and the decorations I believe are a personal thing. We have a very small tree so our children can decorate and have fun. As for the outside decorations, I think it is more to feel the spirit and fun of Christmas yourself rather than to show others you are in the spirit. I know some folks do it up big, so that all can enjoy. As for the last question, yes, that one confused me, I have no clue where it comes into play, giving someone else a gift instead of getting one on our birthday.

Ok the Christmas tree has nothing to do with Christ; it is a tradition that was started in Germany. Many churches have services on Christmas and as far as giving yourself a birthday present on Christmas; it is Christ birthday not yours so why give yourself a gift. The exchange of gifts is to remind us that Christ gave the gift of his own life for us. Many people also celebrate Little Christmas which is on Jan. 6 because that is the day that the wiseman made it to bring gifts to Christ.

The birth of Christ is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to man. However if we base our religion on GOD'S word and not mans tradition our Savior was not born in Dec. Dec. 25 was originaly the celebration of the birth of the sun god and all the trapings of Chtrist mass evolved from this celabration, the evergreen tree, missiltoe ,gifts etc This is another tradition of man. The church was warned about the traditions of man in Col 2:8 Jesus was born months before Dec. If GOD had wanted us to celebrate HIS SON'S day of birth why did HE not make HIS day of birth obvious? Should our love for this celebration out way GOD'S truth? The only part of this celebration that is in GOD'S word is tht Jesus was born in a manger but only the shepards were presant. The wise men came months later. GOD Bless, GOD Bless,

I have wondered the same thing. I know the church that use to go to would have service that morning but at night time instead of having a sit down service they have the Lord's meal. You come and go with your family. The head of your family services everyone. It is really nice.

If you happen to be Catholic, you would be going to "Midnight Mass" held Christmas eve, at midnight and then back to church again 7ish depending on when Christmas day service starts. So my church has never been closed hope this helps.

Churches are closed on xmas day so that the parish priest can invite some priests over for a dressup party where they wear leather underpants & watch videos of the alterboys in the change room.

Because Christmas is a Family time. We should be with our families at Christmas and we should give God thanks for our families. God created the family and He loves the family and He blesses the family. What a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Christ than spending time in fellowship with our family and loved ones. Family glorifies God.
