ok ....the answer for Q# 1 is as follows:

sin(60) = opp/hyp
sin(60) = [3*sqrt(3)] / b
sqrt(3)/2 = 3*sqrt(3) / b
Multiplying both sides by 2, we get
sqrt(3) = 6*sqrt(3) / b
b = 6*sqrt(3) / sqrt(3) = 6

b = 6
A = (1/2)bh
A = (1/2)(6)(3*sqrt(3))
A = 9*sqrt(3)

Q #2 -
suppose x= cola
y = pretzels
z = popcorn
now
x= 3y
z=2y
since x+y+z= 138
then 3y+y+2y= 138
6y=138
y= 23 which is # of pretzels bags
we know that x=3y
x= 3* 23 = 69 # of colas
and z= 2y
z= 2*23= 46 # of pop corn bags

to verify this x+ y+ z should equal 138

69+ 46+23= 138 which is correct.

Q# 3 -
first we count the volume of the boxes the food is kept in
V=2*8*4= 64 cubic in
we can divert ft int inches;

3cubic ft= 3*12*12*12= 5184 cubic in
number of boxes needed = what the cow eatsper month / volume of boxes
= 5184/64
= 81 boxes

or we could divert inches into feet;

since 1 ft= 12 inch
1 cubic ft = 12*12*12 = 1728 cubic inch
so volume of boxes in cubic Ft = 64/1728= 0.037037 cubic Ft
number of boxes needed = what the cow eats/ volume of boxes
= 3 / 0.037037
= 81 boxes
any way both give out same result.
sorry if had solved it wrong earlier this day... now im sure its correct .

Q# 4 - suppose the the four test scores are X,Y,Z,T
since the mean score for 4 tests is 85
then X+Y+Z+T= (85*4)
x+y+z+T= 340
75+90+82+ T=340
then 247+T=340
T= 340-247
T= 93
so he should get 93 in his 4th test ....

Q#5 - the average Temp in Bitz = (80+90)/2= 85
the average Temp in kayton is = ((60+70)/2= 65
so the difference between these two should be from 65F - 85F
am not so sure about this one though ... check others for best answer....

Try to understand the steps , not just to copy the solution...
Best of luck

1. Recall that an equilateral triangle is one where all sides are equal and all angles are equal. Since the angles of any triangle add up to 180, it follows that each angle is 60.

The area of a triangle is equal to (1/2) base times height. Therefore
A = (1/2) b h

All we have to do is solve for the base. However, if you cut the triangle in half, the line with which you cut the triangle in half represents the height, and you've just created a right angle triangle. The hypotenuse of this right angle triangle would be the same as the base (since it's an equilateral triangle). All you have to do is use SOHCAHTOA. In this case, our angle is 60 degrees, we want the hypotenuse, and we have our opposite. Therefore we use sine. Our height is given as 3*sqrt(3).

sin(60) = opp/hyp
sin(60) = [3*sqrt(3)] / b
sqrt(3)/2 = 3*sqrt(3) / b
Multiplying both sides by 2, we get
sqrt(3) = 6*sqrt(3) / b
b = 6*sqrt(3) / sqrt(3) = 6

Therefore, b = 6. Since we now have a base and a height,
A = (1/2)bh
A = (1/2)(6)(3*sqrt(3))
A = 9*sqrt(3)

1. area of an equileteral triangle = sqrt3/4*a^2 where a is side of the triangle.
a = 3sqrt3
area = sqrt3/ 4 * (3sqrt3)^2
=sqrt3/ 4 * 27
=27sqrt3/4
