I lived in Denver when the Nordiques moved there. Their rivalry with the Dead Wings started very early. I've heard hockey announcers say that's the most heated rivalry. Those two teams playing reminded me of the Rodney Dangerfield line, "I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out". Those games were bloodbaths, literally.

I agree, Battle of Alberta. The Battle of Ontario is only good in the playoffs, and Leafs/Habs have simmered down quite a bit over the decades. Come on, after almost 90 years of a rivalry, you'd become a little complacent too.

well you have the oldest in the NHL history the Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs, the Canadiens vs the Bruins is one of the oldest as well, if your a big fan of the Habs, Leafs or Bruins then you'll understand this rivalries with the rich history. the Battle of Alberta is one and the Avs vs the Wings but that was like over 4 years ago not the same teams anymore. but if you ever get to watch a Montreal Canadiens game they give it there all every game and they never have a boring game to watch.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Rangers Devils???
I'll admit, the Rangers fast european style of play is fun to watch and Rangers/Devs have a pretty good rivalry going but the word "Devils" and "fun to watch" should never go together. They're as fun as watching paint dry and NJ's fan attendance #'s shows it.
Anyway, while I don't think the Avs - Wings rivalry has the same excitement that it did about 4-5 years ago, I'd say it's still probably #1.

Historically you would have to go with Habs-Leafs or Bruins-Habs but lately nothing compares to the battle of Alberta with a nod given to Avs-DeadWings.
Go Canadian Juniors!

Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs. Buffalo and toronto are only about an hour away from each other and we get alot of Maple Leafs fans making the trip down to Buffalo. Always makes for a great game when a 1/4 to 1/2 of th people at the Sabres games are Leaf fans.

I'd have too say the funnest game ive watched post lockout was the game Saturday between Calgary and San Jose. I know they aren't rivals or anything but that was a fun game to watch. Pre-lockout i'd have to say Avs Wings. 2 goalie fights in 2 years, gotta love it haha.
