Alien. 1979- Sigourney Weaver- Ridley Scott
The original Alien movie uses many creepy elements flawlessly to combine into a nearly perfect horror film.
Suspense, dark mood lighting, strong believable characters and a completely unique and totally terrifying monster that is preternaturally scary also goes a long way into proving why Alien is such a kick butt film. The predator endlessly feeds, is nearly unstoppable, amazingly fast and intelligent and requires a human host to incubate hordes of flesh eating, floor crawling creatures that only grow up to be massive acid spitting monsters that will slowly pick off the human race one by one.
This film is deeply rooted in the fantasy genre yet its story is so unbelievably scary that it makes a person think twice before walking into a dark room all alone- far removed from a lonely space craft floating in the outer universe.
Now that’s a great horror flick! Watch it alone in the dark!

I don't really think it was scary, but it's in the 'horror' category: House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects.
As for the movie that managed to scare me: Darkness Falls. I don't know why. I thought it pretty well sucked, but around the beginning, I just scream my head off. Also, I hate that grumbling thing the Toothfairy does. Ugh...
