I know I am engaged to a wonderful man who is from Africa but this question has nothing to do with my fiance. Out of curiostiy, why do African men especially those who any one meets online are after American women? Yes, I know there are some great men in African but why American woman? Be honest.

In my profession I meet many men who arrive here from Africa on a student visa. They go to college for one semester or two, find themselves an American woman/girl and marry that girl. Then they change their visa to an Immigrant one. After 2-3 years, and after he has his "green card", they divorce their American wife and request a "parcel" from their parents or siblings. A parcel is an African girl who is selected for their son or brother by the family in Africa. That girl will arrive here as a "visitor" to this country, accompanied by a brother, and in no time she will get married to the African man who by then has become a legal resident of this country. US Immigration will cause them some trouble, but in the end she will be permitted to stay here, especially if she has already delivered an US born child. So girl be very careful. You may also ask US Immigration before you get hitched, unless your fiance has already received his "green card".

Some African cultures teach their men that it is OK to have more than one woman. When you think about it, why wouldn't they go for us; to them WE are exotic compared to their native women. People always want what they cant have/ something completely new. You may want to check your situation a little more closely, those men are very charismatic, but they can be very conniving.

So they can come to America. I know first hand. It is hard for them to get a Visa and if they marry an American woman, then they can come.

I've dated Nigerian men quite often and actually they tend to be very nice. HOWEVER, there are many who seek U.S. citizenship and you can tell who they are (they tend to be quite aggressive and will tell you they love within two days of on line conversation). I've had many who tell me that they want kids with with dual backgrounds. Be careful, because one guy I dated wanted to rush into marriage and spoke of taking me to his homeland (possibly to make my life a living hell). I wasn't having it!

please listen to the advice other responders have given you. your love maybe a one sided affair. too many foreigners are after a visa. even though you say oh no he really loves me ask a few of your close friends and family members what their opinions are. be very careful.
