Buy a box of file folders & label each one with the titles you have listed & put the corresponding receipts & invoices in them. You can arrange them according to the dates AFTER you sort them out. Walmart has a box of 100 manilla file folders for $5.00 or less! When you have a LOT of papers to deal with, use a large table or sit on the floor & start arranging them into alphabetical piles first starting with A,B,C on the left & work your way over to the right, ending with Z, then tackle each pile separately & make a folder for that item name, adding a year if you choose to do so. Next year, if you start out with the folders, you can file them daily, weekly, or monthly with ease! Then you just add a new one when the need arises!

Important records that you keep forever...birth, marriage, divorce, titles, they belong separate under vital records.
The other stuff is filed annually, taxes, pd bills, receipts, etc.
Unsure about the personal work records, but probably goes with the annual stuff. Hope that gives ya some sort of starting point, for you to take it to the degree you wish. Just think of it how/where you'd look for whatever it is you need.

Group the common records together. Put the folders that you use the most to the front and the folders that you use the least to the back.

Durr!!! Put everything in a folder. Give it a realistic name that you will remember. Then put all the folders in the cabinet by alphabetical numerical order. Merry Christmas!!!
