Its a little hard to do all that very quickly since I understand you want to know completely. So here goes.

When it first is falling it feels like feathers that melt on your skin. Kids around the world often try to catch it on their tongue while its falling from the sky.

When it is first on the ground it feels like powder under your feet. As it gets deeper you can get stuck in it, because its not compacted. Its kind of like walking through loose sand on a beach, only the sand would be lighter than normal and not hot. This is the stuff you are supposed to use in a snow fight.

Usually the first day it is wet as well as snow. So around the roadways it is actually slush. Or snow mixed with water and ice. If you ever have eaten a slushi thats about the same thing. Only no flavor or course. It is against the laws of snowfighting war to use this openly.

After a day it starts to harden and become ice on the bottom. This is the really fun stuff, because when you get on a sled it makes you go faster. You can walk easier on the top layer than the slush type. But the next few days will make it harder as it turns to true ice.

Also, never ever ever eat the yellow snow!

Well, the first snow is light, like a feather and when and if you feel it, it's magical- it stays on the trees and ground and if you're lucky before the snowplows come and move it, it is truly an experience. If you have the fortune of living in the Midwest, as I do, one will know what I speak of- blizzards aren't good in the form of snow... it's heavy and wet. All in all I love snow, it produces an energy like nothing else. I'm not sure, but utube may have a video of snow falling, that may be an option for you if you want to experience it, I know it is only a substitute but it's something. Real snow you feel, you can taste it and go outdoors and make snow angels- I did that growing up and once with an ex.

You're really missing out. It's not like anything else. People on here are comparing it to the inside of your freezer, which is not true. Snow is somewhat different from that, but it is one of the closest things that you can compare it to. A freezer is 2 feet x 1 foot x 3 inches. A big yard covered in snow is 300 feet x 600 feet x 3 feet. Incomparable. I grew up with it. When I was little it went up past my knees, to my hips. Difficult to walk through. Like running through sand, it collapses under your feet. There's no traction. You should go somewhere North sometime in your life in the winter. It's well worth it and something that you will never forget. Also, don't eat the snow. It made me REALLY sick when I was there 5 years ago. Also, it's very difficult to catch a snowflake on your tongue. Not as simple as it may seem in the movies.

Imagine a very fancy lace design that is very tiny, white, light, and cold (snow flakes). Add an infinite number of these very delicate lacey cold flakes into huge mounds, drifts, or just a blanket that can cover the ground several inches thick. It is said that no two snow flakes are alike.
When snow falls it causes the area to go very quiet-sort of like a blanket that covers all items. That is why they say the world is hushed by snow. Colors disappear also or are muted. The world becomes a magical place especially if you add yourself.
Once you stick out your tongue and let a snow flake land on it the child within you is hooked for life.

It's light and fluffy when it's a dryer snow and when it's more wet it's a heavier snow. The heavier snow sticks to branches on trees and it's like a winter wonderland. Beautiful. While the snow is falling, everything outside is silent. At night the snow lights up the night and kinda glows.
I love to take walks when it's snowing and feel it landing on my cheeks and the crunching sound of snow when I walk thru it.
Also, I love the smell in the air right before it snows. Can't describe it but it's a smell all it's own. Like a moist cold smell. Similar to what a thunderstorm smells like but colder.

Well, wet snow is heavy and it is the kind that you can pack together to make snowballs and snowmen out of. Kind of like a vey cold molding clay. Powder snow is dryer, comes from colder air, and it does not stick together, but it is good to make snow angels in, or to ski in. Sleet looks like tiny balls of styrofoam, and it is kind of like powder. When the sun is out, you can see little prism like rainbow diamonds glinting in the light here and there. It's the sun reflecting off of the snowflake crystal. As a kid i used to try and pick the diamonds up, but like the rainbow that always moves away, or a mirage at sea, the diamonds dissapear when you get close to them. And at night, when the moon if full, all the snow turns blue and the same diamond light glints, only blue instead of rainbow colored, and the world lights up and it is very beautiful. I'd send some beautiful snow into your dreams if i could.

welcome back! it snowed yesterday here, while I was at work. I work the night shift. I walked outside and it was soo quiet, strange for the factory...The sky was black, the snowflakes were huge, nearly a half inch across. The deep yellow factory lighting gave them a romantic glow and I felt very comfortabe and serene. Every thing was being coated in white. I love winter. Visions of flying down my favorite ski run with my son on a snowboard next to me. Awesome. Then my pager went off, down equipment, broke the spell. Merry Christmas love.

It's little soft white flakes of frozen water - the little snowflakes themselves are small, and will melt when you touch them. But, there are a LOT of them, millions of them. They hit the ground and sometimes they all melt. But if there are a lot of them they stick, and pile up, and soon everything on the ground is covered with a mass of white snow. It can be hard to walk in, especially if it gets really high and it can be really annoying if if's windy while it's snowing.

I sure hope you get to see snow someday, it can be really beautiful!

I would love to,Hun!! You will have to use your imagination.
Imagine very tiny balls of cotton falling gently and silently to the ground as you are walking along with the Love of your Life.

Imagine the ground being covered with a very soft, white fluffy blanket.

Imagine sticking your tongue out and catching tiny slivers of ice that melt on contact...

Imagine going for a sleigh ride in the country snuggled up to the one you love and sipping on a hot beverage of your choice...

I hope I gave you some mental pictures to think about.........Merry Christmas!!

Think slushy, like from 7-11, take away the flavor, and chill it just a little bit more. Then make a ball out of it and throw it a a friend, and laugh. That's snow.
