I told him to take it easy but he has this competitive nature. Its so annoying. Am I wrong for wanting to win? He knows I cant beat him. Maybe hes trying to make me a better player but his backhand is so poweful i can never return it. BTW do you like the way I phrased my question?

Yeah, I liked the way you phrased it, but since it was listed under "tennis" I knew what you meant. I think you should play to win. It sounds like you are competitive, too. What you should do is to try to never hit it towards his backhanded side. When I first learned to play tennis, it took me 3 years to even when a set against my instructor! Believe me, I share your pain.

Bottom line is if that his best stroke, hit the ball to the other side and force him to use his forehand. If he's that over powering tell him to play someone that has matching competitive skills. If I were him I'd get tired of winning all the time. It'd be no challenge.

You caught my attention with that phrase!!

I like some of the comment above.... like asking him to play in handicap , or perhaps you can try to Moon ball him all the time to his backhand.... that should drive him nuts and give you lots of laughter.... then if you still don't win.... either way.. get him to sleep on the floor!

I would suggest that he give you a handicap of some kind. Maybe he should play with a racket ball racket.. bare foot.. one hand tied behind his back...

If the idea is be be competitive, then the probability of you winning has to be real threat. If he wants to crush someone, then he should not do it to a family member.

You should try to read your husband´s backhand and anticipate, also try to figure out why is that is so powerful for you maybe your strokes are late, or you're trying to make a difficult shot out of a defensive shot.. :)

Tell him you want to play him in a doubles match and find a really good partner and kick his butt. Then go home and tell him if he doesn't let you win he is not going to get any.
