Well, I don't think these will all be homemade ideas, but you may have some of these laying around the house.

Tie some ribbon around some loose candles you have.

Fill a mug or nice glass full of candy

Put some stationary or a little binded cute notebook and pen together.

Bake some cookies or a cake, and that will definitely go over well.

A food basket of treats brownie mix soup coffee Or use a clean empty jar and layer colorful candies & decorate the lid w/ a circle of wrap. paper or contact paper. Baskets of soaps & shampoo.People that keep craft supplies @ home can do wonders. If you don't have an available basket use cut up cardboard and form one and cover in wrp. paper or tissue. You can even spray paint cardbrd. I have just gave away a grab bag gift I got @ work figuring I won't use it anyway.

Bake cookies. Or go to a grocery store and pick all the favorite foods of that person and put it in a basket.

I make a video of pictures I have taken throughout the year and put the pictures to music. My family lives far away and we only see them a couple of times a year. I then wrap it (in brown paper) in a big box and have my kids put their hand prints on the paper.
