What is the myth behind the itchy palm?

Question

A co-worker of mine told me that if one of your palms itch it means that your going to be getting money... but if the other one itches, that your going to giving money to someone else. Can someone clarify this for me?

If the palm of your right hand is itchy, then it foretells that money is coming to you, but don’t scratch it as that stops the money from coming! If it’s your left palm that is itchy, then scratch away, as that means that you'll soon be paying out money

It is an old-wives tale about if the right palm itches, you will receive money. Left, you're losing money. I know some people believe it's just a bunch of bunk but my right hand has itched something awful in the past and sure enough!!! ... Money was put into my hot little hands, and very unexpectedly I may add. Same thing with the left ... Ended up paying for some unforeseen things. The more they itch, the more excited (or nervous) I get because it's always better to GET that kind of a "gift" as opposed to giving it away (unless it's for a good cause!) :-)

I have heard the itchy palm meant that someone is thinking about you. i guess it can mean alot of things, like money mentioned in the other comments above me

I have never heard of the giving the money to someone else, but I have always heard that if your palm itches, you are going to find some money!
