You can probably locate a good used transmission for that particular vehicle for a few hundred dollars. To install it however, is going to cost you some money. On that particular vehicle, removing and installing the transmission requires removing the subframe assembly, and supporting the entire drivetrain, which is why it might be costly.

I use to get them rebuilt, with the " latest" fix in them for the rear planetary problem they had, for around $2300 all parts , labor, taxes etc. and that was in 2001. There are I'm sure alot of used ones....BUT...remember this......the used transmission you purchase may not be much better than your old 1. I'm sure the Junk Yard would give a warranty and all....but after you go to ALL....that work and expense.....what if it does not work ? The Yard will give you another 1.....but they will NOT pay to have the 1 they sold you first taken out and replaced with the 1 they are providing now....so you could go thru a few before you get a decent 1...then HOPE it lasts for longer than 3 months.

Need to check used parts dealers....junkyards.....don't think it's worth it though....a 92 with low miles -1200000- is worth 1100-2400 -( NADA site) a fair price for a trany and having it put in could cost that or more....you need to call the junkyard to see what you can get for yours and then go car shopping....
