I'm Asian and i guess you would consider mah skin tone to be light bronze (i'm not realli shure what you'd consider it to be), but i have trouble matching colors with mah skin tone. I usualli onli wear eye shadow, clear mascara, and lip gloss. I dislike heavy makeup. I want it to look neutral, and yet not too neutral that nobody would notice it. I like shiny thigns too, but recently, I've bought an eye shadow palette from Sephora and mah friend thought the colors looked too bright on my skin tone. Also, I look through magazines to see which lip colors are great for asians, but they usualli onli show Caucasians and African Americans, rarely any Asians. I'm not too much of a makeup fan nor would I buy realli expensive makeup. I onli put it on wen i feel like it, but i like playing around with them once in a while. What kinds of shades do you think I should try out?

I was just guessing that you have brown eyes but if not, post something else and I can give you some different colours.

Eye Shadow:
You'll look best in medium green, medium purple, plum, medium blue, medium gray or blue-gray shades of eye shadow. Choose one shade only to use at a time and apply it all over eyes, from lash-line to brows.

Mascara:
Apply one coat of brown or brown/black mascara.Clear mascara is great if you want your lashes a tiny bit longer and a bit curled, but the other mascaras work much better.

Lip Color:
You shine in sheer lip glosses in shades of light brown, bronze or raisin red.

Special Occasions:
You'll stand out in a metallic silver or blue-gray eye shadow on lids. Rim the inside of your lower lids with white eyeliner, and apply a coat or two of brown/black mascara to top lashes. Keep lips shiny and pretty in a sheer bronze or brownish-red gloss.

Hope this helps. :)

Oh this is an easy one. I love sephora and MAC. They have a great selection. You can also try bobbi brown, bobbibrown.com - she has a section on there for different skin tones especially Asian women. It sounds like you have a warm - medium skin tone. The possibilites are endless, you can choose makeup that enhances your beauty and still look like you're not wearing any. You want people to notice you not your makeup unless you're going for something more dramatic. Go for warm shades example - bronze, browns, deep berries and wines. The berries and wines look awesome on the lips - black mascara for night and brown mascara during the day - i think black looks too harsh in the daylight. Also bareminerals is a great foundation no matter what age you are. Its natural and it evens out your skin and you won't breakout from it. Try bareminerals.com

i'm asian too, and it seems like our skin tone might be close.

i've experimented with so many make-up products and it's really hard to find some colors that look really good.. so this is what i've come up with.

my average day routine: black or charcoal eyeliner, a bronzer or pressed powder in a brown skin toned color as a blush, a light brush of pink/magenta lipgloss [just so you get a pretty hint of pink]. that's pretty much it and i get compliments on my makeup. don't forget the moisturizer. natural, but noticeable, and it still looks like you put effort into it.

my 'glam' day routine: black or charcoal eyeliner, maybe a little bit of shimmery teal/aqua eyeliner on my bottom lid, bronzer or pressed powder in a brown skin toned color as blush along with some pinkish blush, a shimmery silver or gold eyeshadow, two coats of black mascara, and a light brush of pink/magenta lipgloss.

i think that for asians you should focus on your eyes more than anything else [just because i think that almond shaped eyes are pretty and stand out].. so play around with a few eyeshadows and eyeliners.. for eyeliners.. just the basic black or charcoal, and maybe a shimmery plum, aqua, teal, rich red. for eyeshadows, just try out a bunch of different colors, blending them together, layering them, etc. for mascara, i just think black makes everyone's eyes pop out some. if you want to have a cool effect then you can do a blue and people will notice it in the light. this is cute and fun too. i'm not a big mascara fan though [because washing it off is annoying].

hope i helped.

:]

Lately, the new "fashion" has been more neutral lip colours. (check out asian mags). You really should try to look at actual asian magazines. For me, my lip sticks are more of a plum colour, with either a slightly more pinkish tone, or a bit if a gold/orange tone. This gives me two different lip glosses to mix with the lip sticks, a dark pink lip gloss, and an orange sparkly lip gloss.

Eye shadow, I would stick to more neutral colours(light brown, beige, cream). Unless you really know what you are doing, it's hard to make "loud" colours look good. Also, it helps to buy eye shadow that matches the colours of your usual outfits. I have a blush palette(with pink and purple) that can double as eye shadow, and those are nice light colours. So generally, neutral colours, and girly colours like pinks and purples work well.

Now, I actually went to an asian mall, to asian boutiques and got them to pick my colours for me. That includes foundations as well. They will actually sit you down on a chair, and try different colours of make up on you until you find something you like. They picked out the colour of my foundation, blush, lip stick and lip gloss. Other asians knows asian skin well. I use the brand Menard(it's a japanese brand), and all of their stuff matches my skin tone perfectly. Now, I'm not saying you have to buy stuff from them, but it would be a good learning experience, as it is their job to sell you their product and make you a satisfied customer. I would also suggest going with a parent(if you are in the younger teens), so that they actually take you seriously. Even if you don't buy from them, write down the corresponding numbers and colours(for *cough* "buying" later after you think about it...lol and never return....), so that you have an idea as to what colours you look good in. Even if you don't buy the exact brand you tried out, you can still match similar colours with other brands.

But great skin comes with great skin care. Sometimes, you don't want to skimp on quality just to save your wallet, because your face is something that everyone sees. When I was younger, my mom would buy all that stuff for me, because she wanted to make sure I didn't use stuff that my skin would react to, or create wrinkles(it DOES happen) and wouldn't do any damage to my skin. My skin now(at 21), is great, baby smooth. My 32 year old sister still gets carded cause people think she's underage...So make sure you wash your face with face wash every time you use make up, to unclog your pores and then moisturize. And at this age, you don't need a lot of makeup, what you are doing now is fine. But I would suggest getting some guidance, so know what works with you and what doesn't.

Good luck with everything!

I'm a guy so I'll just forward you to this article, which should help you out! http://www.free-beauty-tips.com/asianbeauty.html

To quote: "Skin tone is a big factor when choosing hues for foundation, eye makeup and lipstick. Lighter shades will create a "washed out" look, while intense hues will add dramatic effect and bring to life the eyes and cheekbones.

Use foundation and powder with a yellow undertone. Although many Asian women believe they need to wear pink makeup shades to counteract their natural skin tones, this creates a very unnatural, outdated look. Using yellow-based products do not make Asian women look more yellow, but rather they produce a natural, flawless look that is modern and beautiful."

Well if you don't wear make up alot, then you should just skip the eyeshadow. Wear eyeliner instead. I'm asian too. I don't really wear eyeshadow because i think it's too much on the eyes. So i just wear eyeliner, powder, and chapstick/lipgloss, depending what's laying around. If you wear too much on the eyelid, it'll look nasty. For the lips, go for clear lipgloss. Clear goes with every skin tone.

I am asian so I guess I can help. You may want to try clinique they tend to be more natural on your face and there are lots of shades to choose from. Some of them are also meant for olive skin with yellow undertones like asians. They are also meant for super sensitive skin so that you won't break out. If you want shiny things but don't want them to be bright. I would suggest that you try natural earth colored make up like browns.

For a natural look, I say go for browns/goldens/bronzy colors that will make you glow and shimmer and would look less harsh if you had an oopsy with the applicator brush.

For your lips, try lip tints. These add sheer color to your lips so no matter the shade its never overpowering.

I hope all goes well and in the end you look FABULOUS!!

Since you don't like heavy make-up I suggest you apply only the mascara and wear a bright red lipstick. This would keep your make-up simple and yet elegant. If you need to apply eye shadow, choose earth color such as dark brown to compliment your bronze color skin. Avoid pink. Besides make-up, your clothings too shouldn't be too loud (bright).
