Alright, so every time I right click on a music file of any kind, it forces the explorer.exe, also known as the desktop, to crash and restart automatically, or perform an illegal error. I have Windows 2000 Professional, and I have upgraded windows media player 9 to its fullest. Any suggestions?

As I said, its ANY file, if the mp3 is corrupt it will bring up the windows media player and popup statement saying that the file is corrupt and will not play. So the first answer is incorrect.

It's Windows Media Player.

It has over-written all your existing File Associations for all music type files and now every time you try to open a music file WMP 9 launches and does it's 'crash' bit.

Why ? Well there is an on-going battle between music fans and Microsoft 'Digital Rights Management' = an 'anti-piracy' system designed to prevent you playing ANYTHING without Microsoft's permission.

When you 'upgraded' to latest Media Player you 'gave away' all your existing rights to all your existing music to Microsoft. WMP9 is attempting to contact MS over the web to check you are 'entitled' to play the music before it will open the file. Most likely Windows crashes because the web link can't be completed for some reason.

You need to find a decent mp3 player and then 'de-associate' your mp3 files from Media Player (since right click is not working you may have to hack the Registry).

Maybe the music file might be corrupted. You may be able to fix it using a program like MP3Repair

you could save them on it in case you replace them to a format it quite is compatable with a dvd yet you will no longer have the skill to play them in a cd participant or something.to get them off the dvd lower back you will could desire to apply a workstation or workstation with the terrific suited utility.
