well actually it is my friends parents but my friend said... her mom was threated to get arrested if her mom didnt take her to a theripist because the daughter cuts herself

My mom worked for Child Protective Services Emergency Response for about 5-7 years. It is in the state of California child endangerment if the parent does not protect her child. (child under 18) Its neglect and child protective services if someone calls and makes a report, they will go out and they can remove the child from the home and place the child in a group home or in a foster home. The parent is neglecting to get health care for her child. So for all of those that said its not true, it is true. Its very serious. Both of them need help, the mother needs parenting skills and the daughter needs help to stop cutting herself.

A parent can get arrested for anything that can harm a child in the smallest of way, and the child harming his/her own person is included in that. Cutting is serious, and much more common than most people realize. Your friend does need some help. But not criticized. I heard that Princess Di and many famous people have been cutters. Do your friend a favor and google as much as you can about it. Then be a friend and help her to see its okay and to get the help............. Goodluck

My daughter does the same stupid stuff.I put her in a mental institute for 3 days.All that can happen is cps can take that child out of the home.I know people that have lived in foster care and there is more rules there than at home.Now if the child were to kill themselves the parents may get in trouble for not taking that person.

I think that there is a good chance she could get arrested for neglect of a child. If she knows whats going on wouldnt she want to help her daughter?

Yes if advised by a doctor that the child needs help to prevent him/her from hurting themself and the parent ignores the advice then the parent is allowing harm to come to the hild be way of neglect. Child neglect is punishable by law and if the child died from blood loss, infection or tetnus then manslaughter charges could be brought.

If she knows that her child is hurting herself and needs help and the mother does not provide that interaction then the mother can be arrested for child neglect and the child can be removed from the home and put in foster care. Hope that helps explain things for ya.

I dont understand mothers like this, if this were my child they would not have to threaten me I would have her in therapy allready. I guess that sometimes they just dont want to see the problem until it is too late. But maybe the mother just cant acept that there is a problem. this is one of those sisuation where there could be a thousand reasons for the problem. I just dont know.

not arrested probably, but welfare and social services could be brought in and make a huge mess and possibly put the kid in some kind of rehab/detention center.

Wow, I'm not sure. She may not be able to get arrested, but they may try to put her daughter in foster care.
