is it typical for men to wear tie bars/clips these days and if so, where is the best place to get a simple, sophisticated one?

JC Penny or Belk has a nice selection. I to have my one from USMC. But I also got a nice silver one from Penny's. It came with a whole set, cufflinks and tie clasp, bar for about 20-100 bucks depending on what you want.

I always wear a tie bar which I got in the US Marine Corps in 1979.

IYou could look at a men's specialty shop, or a tuxedo / suit shop. They should carry these items. Some jewelry shops might as well.

i recommend it. i read a study stating that one of the filthiest surfaces in a hospital is a doctor's tie. keep that thing back! i'm sure macy's sells them or a jeweler...maybe even walmart.
