For god sakes,we've answered your question.
All things in consideration,Wii wins.
Taking the price out of consideration,Wii wins again.
NOW you're saying "OK,Ignore the unique controller scheme that sets the gameplay apart from the other stuff we've already tried, and ignore the fact despite it's popularity it's cheaper. So,which one?"
Wii. =D

Well the biggest differences are price and the controller scheme, that is what the Wii is all about! If you take that away, what do you have... graphics? Okay, PS3 would win that one. Ability to play DVD's? PS3 again, but only because it costs more and Sony is selling them at a loss. But I'm all about how much fun I have playing the games, and the games are better on the Wii because of the motion sensing controllers, and they are hilarious!
And to comment on other answers, I have not heard of the Wii remotes breaking at all, in fact, that's the only thing that won't break! I broke my TV, but the mote is just fine. On the other hand, my friend got a PS3 for Christmas and it broke 3 minutes into the Blue Ray DVD that came with it! Won't turn on and he hasn't gotten a replacement... Nintendo is much better at customer service, having replaced a broken Wii overnight the day after Christmas.

The PS3 would win easily. I don't think Nintendo is going to win because all these fat people are dropping dead from doing exercises for the first time in years. I don't think their hearts can take the sudden increase in aerobic activity. Was it a smart idea for Nintendo to invent a controller that requires all these couch potatoes to actually get up and do some exercises in order to play the game? I see a massive lawsuit coming.
But seriously, all you people who said the Wii won this year against the PS3 is based on a technicality. There are around 4 million Wii available worldwide by the end of 2006, while there's maybe 1 million PS3 (and that's being optimistic) available for purchase by the end of 2006. So, yeah, Wii sold 4 million while PS3 sold 1 million, so Wii wins. I don't think so. It's only fair when there are enough PS3 and Wii available for everyone to purchase.
There is no evidence that big name developers are dropping out of developing games for the PS3. There might be small developers that might be dropping out because they won't have the money or the resources to develop for the PS3, so it decides to develop for the Wii because it's cheaper and easier. The PS3 still has more 3rd party support than the Wii.
Most people in the industry predicts that the PS3 will win because of the PS2 fanbase. Nintendo lost a lot of fans with the failure of the N64 and GC.

The huge (but not only) problem with the PS3 is the cost - I can actually build a more powerful computer down the road from where I work for $200 less than the PS3 is currently going for, and it doesn't offer anything a computer can't do.
The Wii is innovative, more than half the price if you know how to shop and is selling it's self more for fun. With the amount of casual gamers in the market now-a-days it's not all about power or bigger numbers, it's about having a good time with your mates.

The Wii. Why?
1) It's won the console war this year
2) People are trading their PS3s for Wiis. If you don't believe me, go to craigslist.com --> consumer electronics and type in "PS3 trade Wii"
3) The motion feature is really cool; it lets you play and exercise at the same time!
4) You can download classic games
5) It's been less buggy than the PS3
6) Remind me to remove number 6.

Wii. Fewer hardware problems and more compatible with everyone's current A/V set-ups. Not many people have HD tvs or Blue-ray yet.
