I'm not gonna trash him, I'm not gonna underestimate him.
But, I think that people are getting hyped up too early. He may be great now, in college, but that doesn't mean he's going to be nearly as good in the NBA. I mean, we've had dozens of #1 picks in the last 20 years who we all thought would be superstars and ended up being trash. That's the reality. Greg Oden isn't an exception. He may be great now but that doesn't promise him being good in the pros. With that being said, he may be great.
Do you agree?

I can see your viewpoint and where your coming from. Adam Morrison didn't turn out to be a superstar, and J.J. Redick has not been proving himself. And if we look in the past we can see a lot of guys who didn't live up to expectations including Kwame Brown, who I respect but didn't live up to expectations, and Toronto's new addtioion, Andrea Barnagani (or how ever you spell it), this year's first round pick, isn't getting more than 10 points per game and only grabbing 3.5 rebounds. However, I think that Greg Oden will be a bit different. I think he will do just as Kwame Brown is doing right now for the Lakers. He will do a decent job, except he will shoot better than Kwame. I kind of agree that there is a bit of over speculation on him, but he is a future elite player.

Oden won't have the main superb numbers (in basic terms 15 and 10), yet once you look at how he adjustments the sport, he's a rigidity. communities are compelled to double him while he touches the ball by using fact he's a lot larger than maximum adult adult males. while they double, he's a clever sufficient participant and good sufficient passer to get the ball to his open teammate (usually for a three). On protection, he adjustments maximum of photos in basic terms along with his presence and a few communities do no longer even attempt to bypass interior on an identical time as he's interior the sport . he will in basic terms get greater useful with time. If he's rubbish and an outsized clown as you call him, why is he envisioned to be the remarkable %. interior the NBA draft? it somewhat is by using fact he's a dominant prescence. additionally, in case you look strictly at numbers, you don't get the great image of the participant. So all you people who say Durant can college Oden a million on a million are probably appropriate, yet once you look at basketball as a team sport, you spot how lots Oden brings to the table. a lot of hype for the greater youthful guy? sure. Undeserved? No.

Oden will be AWESOME.
He will be dominant just like Shaq, Dwight Howard, Ewing, Hakeem and other former #1 overall picks.
It wasn't his fault OSU lost.... the game was close until he had to come out due to foul trouble. That's when the game became a blowout.
Did u see that back to back blocks on Noah? He is so damn quick for a big man. He just needs to learn how to finish shots that aren't dunks.

he is just a freaking MONSTER thats all, people get excited when they see a dominating center, everyone thinks SHAQ and everyone goes crazy, personally i hink he is an amazing player but he can get much better. as stated above by another person who said, adam morrison and jj reddick are not stars, if i recall correctly micheal jordan did not begin to average even 5 points before his 4 season, these things take time only one or two people start out at tht high of a level, lebron james and dwyane wade are two people who where amazing from the getgo

I think the hype is for real. First off you got to remember the kid just came out of high school. He's a seven footer with amazing foot work. He can move his feet in all directions quickly and with ease...that is super rare in a big man. He keeps getting better and he's got real basketball IQ and court awareness. He should go number one and will likely be one of the best seven footers to ever play the game.
