I 'dislike' when I get a present that is what the other person likes. Then I have to keep it and it just sits collecting dust because I don't like it. I like to buy a present that the person will like.. the fact that they like it will be remembered, not the fact that it's what I preferred. What do you think?

I think you're totally right. Why give someone a gift if they don't like it?

when i receive presents I don't like, I donate it to the thrift stores. The thrift stores will resell them for cheap. That way I get a tax deduction on it.
I do not like clothes that are too big, or too small, and too tacky and don't fit me. Especially, those printed clothes that look like house dresses. And I don't like those christmassy socks.

If I buy presents for people I don't know too well, I ask them what they like. Instead of buying presents that only I would like.

Since I am a girl, I like scented candles, lotions, handmade soaps, gift certificates to stores like Walmart, Target and Olive Garden.
Checks are good too.

Solution: re-gift
