How about if someone said Happy Kwanza or Happy Hannunaka(sp.)? Is that offensive?

Please! I'm a Jew, and I'm so sick of "happy holidays"(and other politically correct cr*p). We live in a predominantly Christian country. It's reasonable to expect that a lot of people celebrate Christmas. When someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, I just feel like they're wishing me good feelings for a holiday that they enjoy. How can anyone take offense at that? It's not like their intent is "ha ha, you're a Jew and this isn't your holiday"... how absurd. I wish we could just get over a lot of this PC. And to all of you out there who celebrate it... have a Happy Christmas!

If someone is offended, then it is their problem. My wishing them a Merry Christmas is done so out of friendlyness. And although Christmas is a christian themed celebration, it is ones choice to celebrate the birth of Christ. Happy Holidays is another limp excuse for not wanting to "step on anyones toes". Perhaps those who don't believe in Christ as the celebration theme should have to work through the holidays being they don't believe.

I've never encountered anyone offended by a friendly "Merry Xmas".

I have, however, encountered people who have gotten very offended and responded quite rudely to an equally friendly "Happy Holidays". I guess they don't see the irony.

Happy Ho-Ho to you!!

Merry Christmas is a wish of good will, frankly I don't care if they are offended by me wishing them good will. Christians need to stop apologizing for being Christians. This country was established on Christianity, there are plenty of other places to live if one can't respect another person's belief. It is their problem if they wish to take that attitude.

Merry Christmas

I have known people who didnt celebrate christmas to get offended. So now I find its easier to just say happy holidays if I don't know them too well. I only say Merry Christmas to people if I'm sure they celebrate it.

I agree with Mrs Jacklyn, it is better to say "Happy Holidays" just so you won't offend anybody. Although I have said "Merry Christmas to several people and nobody has been offended yet.

Yes some people do. I don't. If they say Happy Holidays it still religious. Holiday comes from Holy Day. So they might as well not say anything at all.

Merry Christmas!!!!
