You can cut the picture from the front ( if it is not written on ) and make Christmas postcards for next year.

Also you can cut portions of card and remake new ones out of cardstock just gluing the parts on and adding other decorations...sort of like scrapbooking~~

make an ornament by gluing the picture to either felt or fun foam shapes and add string and you have an ornament! you can also use a juice can lid covered with felt and add the picture to that.

you can also make a matching game if you have cards that are alike...or have 2 that go together like matching cats...snowmen trees , etc great fun for kids

http://www.kinderart.com/recycle/cardbox.shtml cute gift boxes to make from old cards...great for small gifts jewelry etc....

you can make a garland out of cards cut in shapes like trees hearts etc ...join with yarn etc...for tree or whereever you want a garland

make gift tags for next year paste on new cardstock.

cut design and paste on a plain giftbag...especially brown paper ones...make great gift bags...

cut out and even laminate to make sturdier...then punch holes around edge and you have great lacing cards for wee ones...

you could just take a hole puncher and punch them all up and make your own confetti for Christmas or even the new year~!

Make simple napkin rings for the Christmas table by cutting colorful strips from your Christmas cards and stapling them to form a loop.

or make loops fromthem and make garland for trees like we did as kids with construction paper...

Make an advent calendar of sorts...cut them in shapes and make a felt tree and each day add an ornament to the tree to count days to Christmas. Or a reverse type you put all 25 ornaments on a tiny felt tree hanging...then each day one ornement is removed and placed on the real Christmas tree...

I do!! when I have run out of Christmas playing cards to apply i bypass and purchase some and that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days I deliver 'acceptable' ones and then the subsequent 3 hundred and sixty 5 days I initiate all throughout back. I have ended up determining to purchase and sending 'acceptable' playing cards about once each 3 years for a at the same time as now. the different bit (that my acquaintances have written on) i exploit for buying lists, scrap paper and so on and so on. that's an stunning theory recycling stuff yet I favor to do my personal little bit of recycling!! I have basically basically signed as a lot as this (searching for some bedroom furnishings) that's truly good isn't it?

Several ways to recycle Christmas or any card:

1. Make tags for next year's gifts by cutting a tag shape (doesn't have to be a rectangle, can be a star or heart, circle or whatever) in different areas of the front. Most cards will yield 3 or 4 tags with an interesting design.

2. Cut out the elements (for example, a card with a snowman and trees would yield a snowman and the trees). Then make next year's cards using those elements and adding other embellishments. This type of layering gives a nice 3D effect to your cards.

3. Make small gift boxes out of them. These make nice ornaments for your tree to hide a little gift for drop in guests.

4. Make other types of ornaments out of them.

This was my response to that question a few weeks ago:

My Mother sends all of ours every year to one of the following, where they are used by pediatric patients and/or special needs children for their projects: St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude's, Boulder City, NV 89005 or........Ann Marie Romero, Seton Shoal Creek Hospital Children's Unit, 3501 Mills Ave., Austin, TX 78731 or........Judy Horton, Down Home Ranch, 20250 FM619, Elgin, TX 78621.

They prefer to have you send only the fronts of the cards to reduce your postage expense, but you can send them whole if you wish. You might also check with your local hospitals, etc.

Put them in the recycling bin of course.
You could also erase the old writing if it was in pencil and send it to someone else. (it can't say a year) :)

You can scratch out the name of the old person with a black pen and write the new name under it...Thas what I always do and I havent had to buy a card in 4 years... they may end up really scrached and may look very untidy, cheap and bad but they are gona save u thousands of billions of dollars .. even if everyone thinks u r a cheapstanks and that u dont care aBOUT them .. it is all about u saving money and giving cheap ugly gifts will also save u a lot of money...thats what I always do..ALWAYS

If they are the folding kind, and they dont have any writing on the inside of the front, cut them in half and turn them into a nice postcard!

i was going to make a similar joke to what dolphin did, but she beat me to it.. oh well

but for real, just put them in with newspaper recylables. perhaps even *hide* them in the papers, so that people don't get upset that you're throwing their cards away - though honestly, they probably would only chuckle, since they do the same thing

You can tape them up on your wall, or something. It's pretty when you see a bunch of your fav christmas cards together. n
