Here's a few basics on proper singing - I am a classically trained singer, a high school choral teacher, and a black gospel choir director...you can apply good singing technique to any genre you sing:

1. Imagine a Bell - it's hollowed out and when you hit it, it rings and makes bell like tone - that's because there's open space for the sound to resonate. You have spaces in your head and mouth that have to be open in order to produce good tone - yawn and notice how open the back of your throat is - your tone (the sound of your singing voice) will sound much better if your throat is that open - lifting your eyebrows helps open up the space in the back, also...kinda like when the doctor presses your tongue down with that depressor thing.

2. You have to breathe from your diaphragm or stomach area and not from your chest - a good sound comes from well supported breath. Your shoulders shouldn't move but your stomach should inflate like a tire - to find this area, find the edge of your ribs at the bottom on both sides and move up until you find the point where they meet - this is where your diaphragm is - cough and you'll feel it punch out. In order to make sure you're singing from there, lay down on your stomach and you will automatically breath in from that point...once you know what it feels like, practice breathing from there. To strengthen this muscle, you can do things like pronouncing the following consonants really hard - "F", "Sh", "S", "T", "P"

3. Sing a LOT - sing along with the radio and take notice of the above, and whether it sounds like you're singing the same thing they are or not. Understand that your singing voice is NOT your speaking voice, and it can move up and down a lot farther than your speaking voice. Don't be afraid to try that - sing out, because if you don't, you're going to sound wimpy and you'll never improve.

Not sure if this helps, but you can't sing well until you get the basics down :).

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/0bdt8

I'd say you have the most important quality...passion. That's key to a captivating singer, but if your looking for technicalities.
1.Vocal Warm-Ups- Never sing without proper preparations
2.If it hurts your doing something wrong, and oh yeah STOP!
3.Work on your breathing! If you are Breathing properly, you should experience the unmistakable feeling of having to go number 2!lol
4.Feel the music! If you can close your eyes and forget where you are, then by George I think you got it!
my point: practice going up and down the scale everyday, BREATHE! breathing is the support system to help you carry-out your notes.

Your voice does not matter! If you love to sing, then sing away!

You sound young! Your voice will change over the next few years and may become more to your liking.

My dad used to call me a 'seagull' when my voice was changing! Now, I can sing with the best of them! I ain't no Elvis but I can do okay!

If you have a passion to sing ... never lose it! Hold on to your dreams and make them real!

Join a choir or something to give you more opportunities to sing. Also, when you sing words such as teeth, make your mouth into the shape O instead of stretching them to the side. Make sure that ure singing in tune, and if u really want to improve singing, find someone that's really good at singing, or just someone and ask them to critique you on your singing.

There's a book called "Set your voice free" by Roger Love, a vocal instructor.
That book helped me more than anything I've ever read or done by myself.
It comes with a cd to sing along with.
It's just like taking vocal lessons, for only 25 bucks!
You can find it in any large bookstore, or they will order it for you.
