There are currently 78 people named S. Claus
living in the U.S. -- and one Kriss Kringle.
(You gotta wonder about that one kid's parents)
December is the most popular month for nose jobs.
Weight of Santa's sleigh loaded with one Beanie Baby
for every kid on earth: 333,333 tons.
Number of reindeer required to pull a 333,333-ton s
sleigh: 214,206 -- plus Rudolph.
Average wage of a mall Santa: $11 an hour.
With real beard: $20.
To deliver his gifts in one night, Santa would have to
make 822.6 visits per second, sleighing at 3,000 times
the speed of sound.
At that speed, Santa and his reindeer would burst into flame
instantaneously.

They lie about Santa because the truth is so complex and unbelievable. The truth is that Two Billion People around the world decide that once a year, every child should get a present, and they independently but together make that happen. Think about it, two billion people in agreement on one thing. And, for those without children, they buy gifts for other people's children. And those who have money buy gifts for children whose parents have no money. Too complex, so we tell the story about one man.
It reminds me of the idea of Sunset. We all use the word "sunset" and we talk about the "sun going down" but the truth is that the earth is moving beneath us. It's hard to understand that the earth is moving when it feels still, so we use a simple word to explain what we see. In the same way, we use the words "Santa Claus" to explain the complex concept that billions of people agree that on one day every child should get a gift.

Well I am a bad girl and I am always on the 'nice' list. I kinda figured out that Santa wasnt real one day. And I dont know why they go through the trouble of trying to keep it a secret anymore. But I know I will be the same way when I am a parent!

They belive this is a bit of fun for their chidlren. Many parents may remember their own childhoods and the excitement and mystery of Christmas and Santa. They want their children to enjoy this time as much as they did. This is, however, a lie, simply put.
My mother never lied to me about some supernatural Santa figure existing. For me, this didn't take away anything from Christmas.

that was nice, may i add my finding there was no Santa? I was 4, and happened to look out the window and saw my dad across the street at a Friends house getting a Santa suit ready to bring home. He held the jacket up to himself sort of checking the fit. Oh my gosh, I was not all that upset, my main worry was how to go along with it so my dad would not be disappointed. He always had made such a good Santa. I carried it off. and my sister was 3 years younger, so it all worked out ok.

It is just another fairy tale. Some fairy tales are told so often and convincingly that people begin to think they are true. Take, for example, all of the religions. God must be laughing his *** over that stuff. Although, I can imagine him wincing when he hears some of that crap that passes for Gospel music these days.
Oh, Santa, right.

it's to spark imaggination and hope.
without those two during your childhood, you're basically not a child.
it's a way to make kids innocent and naive. and to not have to explain things early on. they need to live and have their own oppinions before they start growing up and demand rational answers for everything.
