As a US military "brat" I grew up in Germany, Idar Oberstein, site for "The Church in the Rocks" Felsenkirche in German. Legend is that brothers (princes) fought for the love of the same maiden. One brother pushes the other over a cliff and he falls to his death from the mountaintop castle. The surviving brother's grief results in the construction of this incredible landmark in atonement... Uhhh... I don't have a clue what happened to the girl.

Following is a website that has some wonderful photos and detailed information.

There is East of Eden. I think Jane Seymour played the woman in the movie or TV adaptation. Then there is Legends of The Fall with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. Good movie. Three brothers all loved one woman. Set during the Early 1900's, WW I, prohibition, etc.
