Personality conflicts are common among people who are forced to be together. Sometimes, you just have to close your eyes (metaphorically speaking) and grit it out to at least make an appearance at family gatherings.
Just remember, at the end of the day, these could be the only people you really have in this world, so it is best not to allienate them.

We are born into a family with no choice as to who they are and have the wonderful freedom to pick our friends. I don't feel that way, but know a lot of people who do.
Do the obligatory thing of showing up - put in a little time being thoughtful and give them nothing bad to say after you leave. Just put in a little time and be pleasant. It's not that painful in small doses. You will be glad that you did and have no regrets because you will know you did the right thing.

You are a teen right? Well we are all guilty of being wrapped up in ourselves at that age, to some degree or another. I think you might be judging them unfairly. Are you embarrassed by them?
Are they not as well off as your friends parents? Do you have a different moral code than them or what? You are detaching yourself from them emotionally for some reason. Are you ignored by them or not as important as other siblings?
Remember that friends come and go....family is forever. Be more thinking and considerate of your behavior towards them.
Good Luck sweetie.

Not all family relations are good. If you are uncomfortable with your family there is no reason to spend your holidays around them, especially if the discomfort is mutual. This does not make you a bad person.

sure sounds like you'r a teen. This is probably just a growing up, rebellious phase which you will grow out of eventually. But ultimately, I'm quite sure you will turn back to your family when you realise you need them more than ever and they are ALWAYS standing by you, whether you know it or not now.

Unless your family has done something really bad to you or you don't like who they are, then you should go see them.
There has to be a reason you feel this way.

Are you a teenager? If so - its normal. Natural rebellion - wanting to pull away from your family and "spread your wings" so to speak.
