for a bachelors degree... also sometimes called a liberal arts degree, you need to go to a school that has the other clases. I do know in some special cases, you might be able to get out of certain requirements. A friend of mine went to a certain college for the singular purpose that they didn't have a math requirement. but no you can't get out of all general ed. Don't dispair though, cause the classes they make you take are really easy. you can take math 101 for your math req, history 101 for your history. just take the easy classes, put the time in, and at the end of 3 or 4 years you'll have your bachelors of psychology.

Wait you're looking for a ph.d? once yoúve finished the liberal arts bachelor degree, all masters and ph.d programs focus only on psychology in texas or anywhere.

Why don't you go to a community college and take all the psych courses they offer, without taking anything else? You can take classes without signing up for a degree. If you still enjoy psych after taking four or five straight classes in it, then you can talk to the school about what you need to do to get a degree. At that point, you'll know if it's worth doing what you need to do.

If you like psych, while you're taking classes, you can do some volunteer work or internships, such as volunteering on a suicide hotline, to see if working with people interests you.

Being a Texan myself, and having three college degrees and now being a retired mental health professional with 20+ years experience, I can say that I do not know of a way for you to get a college degree in psychology or in any degree without having to take "the basics" such as math, history, language, english, etc.. It's all a part of the educational system as I've always known it, and if you want to practice counseling / psychology, you're going to need college diplomas, so, I guess that sets your course for you. God Bless you.

I don't know if the University of Phoenix has a campus there, or if you can do it online there, but I am enrolled with them. They only require you to take math if you really need it or if you are in a certain field that needs it. Also, the only 'history' you have to take is the history of psychology. They have the Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D's that you can get there. I am not sure if you have to go for one before getting the other, but I am going for my bachelor's, then may go for my master's down the road (after I am done with this one). You may want to check into them and find out if they will meet your needs.

1st off, let me say Texas rocks!!!! I am born and raised a Texan and Texas is where I will stay!!

Now anyways, back to the subject..... I am a Psychology major and I am currently working on my AA degree and in order for me to do that, I have to have the basics (ex: math, history, English, etc.). I will be transferring to Texas Women's University to pursue my Bachelor's in Psychology and my Master's in School Psychology. I hate having to do all the basic crap because it is a rip-off and all the school systems are doing is taking our money (and we all know that college is not cheap)! In other countries, they can go straight into the field they want to pursue and become a doctor or lawyer or whatever it is without wasting their money on all the basics. I don't understand why the U.S. couldn't be like that. I mean, if I know for sure that I want to be a School Psychologist, then let me go ahead and start learning to become one. I will be taking Geology this coming semester for my natural science along with College Algebra and a few other classes and I can't understand why I need to spend hundreds of dollars on classes I don't even need. What am I going to do with Geology and College Algebra as a School Psychologist? Am I going to say: "Hey little kid, I know you are having problems and all, but I need to stop this conference so I can study a rock and do an equation?" I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if a person doesn't know what career they want to go into, sure, let them take basics and get to know what they like, but for us that know what we want to do, LET US GET ON WITH IT AND NOT WASTE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON CLASSES THAT ARE NOT NEEDED!!!!

Ok, sorry for all that... I just think it is stupid to be wasting my money like that. So to answer your question after an hour of rattling on: No, that doesn't exist in Texas, or anywhere in the U.S. so it's off to basics we go!

ummmm....via the way, there's a conflict going on, the place many individuals are suffering and dying, partly because of the shown fact that we don't understand differing cultures, religions, socities, and histories. in case you do no longer learn/understand historic previous, you would be doomed to repeat it. this is important considering which you're able to desire to know approximately your state, how your government is administered, your individual historic previous and the way you got here to be the place you're and who and what sacrifices have been made so as which you will take a seat here on the information superhighway. extra suitable, you're able to desire to know approximately different persons's histories besides b/c this is an ever shrinking international and this is further and extra possibly which you will meet and take care of human beings of a distinctive race, faith, subculture, and so on. How are you to understand the place they are coming from in case you quite know no longer something approximately the place they arrive from and what their struggles have been? you will possibly no longer sense this way, yet I promise you that your individual historic previous has performed a large area into the way you view your self and the international around you. despite in case you don't know approximately it, it nonetheless impacts your worldview, basically as others have that comparable journey. now and lower back education is a lot extra important than basically the interest you get once you graduate.

You can get your degree just one class at a time.
If you start at a community college make sure your credits are transferable to the university or college where you want to get your degree.
If you just want the knowledge sometimes you can "audit" a course.
I believe you will want a PhD in philosophy with a minor in psychology.

You have to have enough units in all the sections to fulfill your baccalaureate requirement. That is at schools that are properly accredited. For instance; science, 9 credits, humanities, 9 credits and math. At least you will have to get through statistics for the social sciences.

In order to get a degree in psychology, you will have to take certain other courses. In other words, you have to take the bad along with the good.
