If you suspect a problem - INVOKE the warranty and contact Gateway. If you bought the computer at Staples, they would simply take it back with NO QUESTIONS asked within the first two weeks. Maybe your retailer can help.

But maybe it is stuck in Sleep mode or hibernation mode. HOLD the power button down for about ten seconds to see if it will turn back on, or turn off completely. If that does not work, remove the power supply and battery. After several seconds, put the battery back in and try to turn it on the normal way.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Yes. I got a Gateway a few months ago and after a day or so it would not work and started going crazy.

The problem is your computer is defective. Every few hundred or so computers they make is messed up somehow. Take it back immediately. Demand a replacement.

The only good computer Gateway really makes is the FX series.

unfortunately you chose a Gateway. Out of all the brands on the market, I have come to learn that Gateway is the flimsiest when it comes to manufacturing and servicing. They are notorious for loose connections. If you're not afraid to venture inside the machine, try several things. 1)unplug 2) remove cover 3) check all of the power connectors (usually a series of red, white, black wires with 4 prong plugs which plug into your hard drive,CD ROM etc) 4)check your main power source plug going into the power source (box in back of machine that has a fan inside it) and the cable coming from it into the motherboard (the main base of the computer) 5)check all your source cables (usually flat wide cables about an inch and a half wide) making sure they're snug in the hard drive and all components. If you don't want to try this and it's a new computer, please be patient and return it to the store. You may void your warranty if you get inside of it and do something wrong.

Dude, I gotta tell ya, Gateway, Acer, and Emachines are "the laughable three" in the computer world. They are all made for people who have no clue about computers and just look at the ads and prices.

Take it back, get your money back, and then go buy a professional-grade system for the same money (or less) by going to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net

I have bought 5 systems from them and never had a single issue. I don't even bother building my systems now because I can buy them from those guys cheaper than I can do it myself.

Might have to do a recall on the power supplies. Call up help support and tell them whats going on. Some times the rocker switch might not be set on the back of the PSU. But ultimately call Gateway have them replace what ever needs to be replaced or fixed right.
