No, what they need to do is balance business licenses, giving more business licenses to persons who want to open a mom and pop fresh produce grocery stores, with vegetable and fruit, than open another franchised fast food restaurant, in an area or community full of them. As well stop selling off public park lands for building mega churches and Wal*marts, and also they need to cut down lanes on roadways, for public push bike way's, and walkways so citizens can ride their push bikes or walk to get work or go grocery shopping. Just look at most sidewalks in the United States, they can't be used by the disabled, the elderly, mothers pushing prams, pull a shopping cart or for school children or people to walk or even to jog around the block on. Instead of walking or riding push bikes in the traffic with cars, no wonder why Americans are obese, no parks, walk or bike ways or grocery stores. It has been proven on many society studies 'every' city or town which all have these their population isn't obese. A lot of councils which give out business licenses, closed down 60% of these fast food franchises, and gave business licenses to open IGA and Safeway's express grocery stores. Which sold fresh food, meat, vegetables and fruit. Fully stopped selling and building in park lands, also fixed public walkways closed roads and made open air malls, outside dining and public areas, as well started community gardens, remarkably the obesity rates all dropped.

No, you'd be punishing everyone who buys something to prevent the abuse of it by a few. You can hurt yourself with a pair or scissors, but most people have enough common sense to use them right.

No, it is not up to the government to say what people can eat. If people want to be overweight and unhealthy, that is their choice.

That is one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard.
Take a healthy food such as slim fast bars or oatmeal... lets say you ate triple portions of it, and were an inactive human, you would get fat... so therefor, you would have to tax slimfast bars & oatmeal.
Try again....
