You must use the iTunes program, which you can download from Apple (http://www.apple.com/itunes/). Then, you can upload CDs and download songs from Apple.

If you use iTumes you can transfer the music very easily. Just click on the button to auto fill the shuffle or click and drag the songs you like onto the shuffle.

Your retarded it needs iTunes since it is a iPod and is made by Apple. Downloading iTunes is free but using iTunes Music store cost a $1.00, you can also use Limewire to download music but you really need iTunes to get music on it.
