The scientific evidence from DNA is quite staggering. On a comparison of our genetic code, it is striking to see exactly how similar we are. I have personally had this opportunity, and it's only the odd DNA base in the sequence which is different; and we are talking about above 90% similarity.
This is also in addition to non-DNA Structures, such as our skull and skeletal system, which is also suprisingly similar; although obviously evolution has changed. Psychologically, if you go to a Zoo and interact with a chimp through a Window - say, pulling faces or waving, you may find their reaction to it would be very similar to that of a small child.
Therefore, it is certainly a good possibility we 'came' from Chimps - or more likely, a genetical evolution - DNA, Behaviour and Looks are too similar to rule it out.
However, it is also important to be aware of such other theories of our being and evolution; and be aware that, even though some are less reliable than others, that the "chimp theory" is merely a theory, like the rest, and that there is no conclusive evidence to show where we actually evolved....or who made us...

I don't think anybody in the world believes that (unless you've had a *really* bad science education). It's important to understand that chimps are the result of as many millions of years of evolution as we are.
Oh, and humans didn't "come from" apes either ... humans ARE apes. 'Ape' is not a species but a category of many species that includes all the tail-less primates. Some people are a bit insulted by this ... but it's no more insulting to say that humans are apes than to say that humans are primates or that humans are mammals. These are just categories.

No. It has never been proven that we evolved from anything. All the college text books that teach evolution do not explain the exact mechanism of the evolution of the cell; it only says that it happens. Science has come so far, that I believe if an answer to the question of how we got here from a chimp at the zoo (to put it in simple terms) is out there we would have found it by now. Because we didn't, I believe it isn't out there and we need to stop looking for our answers to fit the question of evolution. After all, true science lets the evidence take you where it leads; it should not lead the evidence to a predetermined conclusion.

No! Humans and all other mammals came from 2 organisms much more primitive and smaller than a chimp or any other living animal. Don't believe me? Ask your Father and Mother if you didn't really come from 2 one celled organisms so small they can't be seen with the naked eye. These organisms are the germ cells of procreation the sperm and the egg!

Humans evolved from a similar ancestor as chimps. They didn't come from chimps themselves.

I believe in evolution ... that the fittest survive ... meaning those that cannot adapt will inevitably extinct.
But I believe in the Bible. And according to that ... I came from a rib from a man.
To my knowledge, Adam wasn't an ape, monkey, chimp, etc.
I'm a mother and I have carried three children. And to experience the feelings in the womb and at birth and there after .... so complex and a foundation that cannot be explained ... chemical or not.... we are part of something much greater and complex. Looking at a newborn baby .... they don't just happen by chance. They were meant to happen ... made the way they are .... and so are each of us.
In the end, God makes everything ... so we are related through God's creation ... theoretically.

i don't think humans really come from chimps, but i do believe that humans share a common ancestor as chimps.
i believe in evolution, and in some extend there are some questions in which scientist can not answer. thus, i do believe in evolution and in some extend i believe that God do creat something on this planet. but until now, there are some question in which scientists can not answer. but to answer your question, i don't believe we come from chimps, but we do share a common ancestor as them.

It does not matter what I think. Humans and chimpanzees share a common ancestor. We are Homidae and right next to each other on the evolutionary bush. You need to know that science does not come to these conclusions by what people " think ", but by the myriad, ever challenged evidence.
