If hi-def resolution is 1280x720 if u have your moniter set @ 1280x1024 is that hi-def?

If your monitor has 1280x720 it's capable of HD. To get HD you need an HD source, like an HDTV card.

both have same resolution. the difference is the aspect ratio, as in 4x3 and 16x9.
