You should be able to take all that stuff they bring to your room.....you are billed for most everything except the formula (usually donated by similac or enfamil). The only thing you shouldn't take is the linens/blankets.

I took that stuff as well, but not because it was included in the price... The nurses told me to take that stuff when I was leaving, (you will need to use the sitz bath at home also) they even gave me more stuff to take then what was in my room. I was at an amazing hospital and the whole experience was great! The only thing I took I may not have been supposed to take was the receiving blanket my daughter was wrapped up in. I wanted it as a memory...
Good luck, and remember... get an epidural!!!

When your friend got to her room after delivery she should have seen the new packs of all goodies, so the next girl after her - meaning the hospital should not leave what was used by one patient to be used by the other.
The hospital does include the cost of all these items in billing. I'm responsible for 25% of what my insurance agrees to pay for services, and I'm absolutely positive they charged me for everything - perhaps even things that were not provided to me... who's going to check them?.. The point is it's not tacky to take what's yours.
Take care.

When me and my baby was discharged from the hospital, the nurses told us to take all the diapers, wipes, pacifier, formula, pads... pretty much everything us, EXCEPT the swaddle blanket and the little t-shirt they provided for my son.
These are indeed provided to the parents for free. But do ask whether the swaddle blankets are to be taken home or not. Those you don't want to take with you if you aren't suppsed to.

Hey! Yeah you are charged for everything that is brought to you in the room. When I had my baby last year my nurse had us take home everything. Like other people have said I got formula, pads, toothbrush, etc. They also gave me 6 blankets for my little girl from the hospital. Don't worry about looking tacky...take what your paying for.

NO! i took every last thing...i even asked for more before i was discharged. they do infact include this stuff in the charge. Besides, they cant use it after you leave, they have to throw it away or some reason... take every diaper, pacifier, bottle, nipple, wipe... pads,...everything you can find. ask for more tucks pads ... youll need it. what if you dont take that stuff and you get home and you dont have one thing? are you going to run out tot hte store in the middle of the night to get it? (esp if youre a single mom and theres no one there to help you in the middle of the night or day?) IT IS NOT TACKY! my nurse told me to take the stuff, btw... if thats any consoltion. take the blankets too. theyre great!

No, you should take it all. When my preemie boys were in the NICU, the nurses there were great! The last couple days there, they would give us cases of formula to take home. We came home with 6 pacifiers, 4-6 cases of formula (prefilled bottles), 6 nasal aspirators, tubes of vasiline, packages of soft cloths and diapers. That's only for them. I came home with tons of *huge* pads and the mesh underwear to go with it. The nurses were great and they did mention "you do pay for all this so you should take it with you". So, don't think it's tacky, you really do pay for it with your hospial bill. Best of luck and bring a big BAG!!

I am having my fourth baby so I am a pro by now! You are charged for everything in your room. My nurses always loaded me up with everything in my room cause they said I payed for them all ready. I definitely do not feel bad taking the things provided for me and my baby. If you leave it they will just throw it away they cannot reuse it.

I was given all of those things in a bag when I left the hospital. It wasn't like I was 'stealing' it. Those are things that were provided to me as a 'gift' I guess you could say.

You are able to take them home with you. Once in the room opened or not they have to be disposed of for sanitary reasons. Most everyone takes these items home with them for this reason and because every little bit helps. I took everything that was given to me or brought to my room.
