I listen to up-beat songs when Im sad or angry to lift up my moods. But my fav sad songs are: Crawling - Linkin Park (well, not exactly that sad), And something like "Let the rainfall wash away" by hilary duff. Green day and Simple Plan is kind of okay too, but I usually prefer songs from V7 or Boa, evanescence and cascada

"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John. When I was 16 my best friend's dad died, and her and I listened to that song for days. It always reminds me of that time. "Funeral for a friend" by EJ too.
"It Can't Rain all the Time" by Jane Sibley (I think) from The Crow soundtrack. I got that CD around the time one of my pets died, and it always makes me cry.
"Gollum's Song" from one of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks--it's just so sad.
Nine Inch Nails' saddest would have to be "Hurt" and "Something I can never have."

There is one song, sorry to say but it is Aqua, GoodBye to The Circus. It like saying good bye. I listen to for like an hour straight when I left for college.
