my kitten is always stepping all over it, and i was wondering if i could "turn it off" when not in use.

p.s. don't suggest to plug in another keyboard.

if you don't want to close the lid put a password on the screen saver.

also..check with your owners manual. some keyboards have a "keyboard lock" function...

Have the same problem with mine. I have to close the lid when I am not using it. Then take some masking tape, and put a few strips of it sticky side up on the lid. Cats hate to walk on the stuff. Your kitten step on it about two or three times before it decides to stop walking on the laptop.

Have four cats and it works wonders. (Usually have to do a refresher every three to four months).

If not in use, you can shut down it.
