We are having smoked turkey at Christmas dinenr tomorrow and I want to know if there is a chance of contracting listeria or toxoplasmosis from it. It is a whole smoked turkey, not smoked turkey deli meat, if that makes sense.

Will it be ok if I heat it up until it is steaming?

All meat should be cooked to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, proper handling can help prevent diseases. Such as, was the turkey refrigerated/frozen properly before cooking? If the turkey was cooked to the proper temperature and served fresh (not after sitting out all day) then you have a 99.9999999999% chance of NOT getting sick. However, there is that extremely RARE chance that something could happen but I doubt it'd be from the turkey. You should be OK and enjoy your dinner!

Merry Christmas!!

It should be fine to eat as long as it is up to a safe temperature. But limit your exposure to BBQ, smoked meats,etc...Lots of toxins and carcinogens in smoke and char.

Not quite, its just not good when it reaches over a specific temperature. Dont eat to much of it or else your stomach will get some pain every once in a while.
