My friend is 36 weeks pregnant and her feet are swelling and they really hurt when she walks... now her hands are swelling to she cant even wear her wedding ring.. I told her to put her feet up and she wont listen how can I tell her to keep her feet up?

You need to get her to the doctor ASAP. Swelling like you mentioned is a side effect of pre eclampsia. She needs to have her blood pressure checked. Pre eclampsia is serious business, and she should let the doctors have a look see. It's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry, ecspecially when you're dealing with a baby. She needs to stay off her feet as much as possible, and she really should see her doctor. If she won't go in, call him yourself, and let him know what's going on.

And for the one who can't figure out 36 weeks is 36 weeks. Months have nothing to do with it, they vary from 28 to 31days. How do you figure out how far along a person is in processs that takes 40 weeks if you use a clock that changes values at random intervals.

You already told her to elevate her feet. Tell her to cut down on the sodium (salt) intake. if she doesn't listen to you then thats her problem and you can only do so much.

this is a sign of preclampsia you should get her to the hospital where they will check out her blood pressure this is often a very serious thing it can effect her and her baby.
