So either party can spell out what is to happen to their pre-marital assets including money, homes, and rights of their children should a divorce occur within a given period. Should worse come to worse it helps you not to feed the lawyers.

I insisted on one in my first marriage because i'd inherited alot of property (rental houses) from my grand parents. I was married for 8 years and my wife cheated numerous times during the marriage. We tried counseling for 2 years and she would continue to cheat.
Finally I decided enough was enough, all i had to do then was take the agreement to a judge in my county where i lived and he signed and ordered the divorce. All my wife received is half of everything we had acquired during the marriage. I was able to keep all my property.
In my 2nd marriage i didn't have one and lost everything. To a gold digger and her kids from a previous marriage, a real sly one she was.
I would recommend having a pre-nuptial agreement in place regardless of how much you may trust your partner in a new marriage. You never know what they are thinking and are capable of.

To protect YOUR current and future wealth if you have doubts of the longitivity of the marriage. Be warned that prenups are not always recognized by family courts and are not enforcable.
My advice, don't get married if you have doubts but always implement a prenup.
The world is a messy uncertain place.

Pre-nups are in the gray area. On one hand it says I don't trust you, on the other hand it says I have to protect myself. I guess it depends on the people involved, but if I were rich enough to consider having a pre-nup, I would be very careful about what I revealed to my potential spouse. It's just a shaky thing to want to speak about, it really says "I don't trust you and I want to protect myself in case things don't work out"

ME PERSONALLY DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE ONE. YOU MADE A VOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND YOU ARE ONE. THERE IS NO I IN TEAM. BUT IF SOMEBODY GETS A PRENUPT ITS BECAUSE THEY STILL WANT EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAD BEFORE THEY GOT MARRIED. THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO SPLIT THEIR BELONGINGS WITH SOMEONE ELSE. WHICH IS SELFISH.
