Personally I don't think we are as bad off as the left-wing media would like us to think. I think that we should stay and fight until the last Muslim Extremist is dead.

Amen. The USA is the strongest and most powerful nation in the world. To admit defeat to a backwards, third world country like Iraq just makes no sense...

Try to put yourself in the other guys shoes.... You are living peacefully in your home--all right, you don't agree with some of the decisions of the government, but you are being educated and kept healthy and working and fed. Then one day, some country on the other side of the world says that they have decided that you need "saving" from your present deplorable circumstances, because you are being denied basic "freedoms". You don't understand this, and can't believe that someone that doesn't know you can be trying to make decisions for you. So you protest this. And the troops of that country, who have come into YOUR country to "liberate" you, are suddenly calling you a "dangerous political insurgent", and trying to kill you and your whole family. So now you have no job, no food, no school, no medical care and you have thousands of people trying to kill you. Wouldn't you think those people were crazy? They came to your home and WRECKED your life.

Do you still think that the people of Iraq and Afghanistan should treat your soldiers as liberators? Or don't they have the right to look upon the American soldier as crazy Christian Extremists, who need to be run out of the country, before they annihilate the last of your countrymen?

Either stay, let a lot more people die and then admit it. Or we can pull out now, save lives, money and time and admit it. Which way do you want it?
We cannot win this war given the options available to us. The country is divided into 3 regions and it's people absolutely hate each other. Sunni's, Shiites and Kurds are far more loyal to each other than they will ever be to any government.
Democracy in iraq is a noble ideal, but it is totally unrealistic. The religious fanaticism that permiates the government and all the different sects of people who inhabit this country make it impossible to expect any form of democratically elected government to ever last.

#1. False premise about the media.
#2. Ill informed.
#3. If you want to ask a question about a very controversial issue, at least have a tad of an idea what you're talking about.

Edit: Just saw summit_of..'s answer--so articulately stated! Also the psychological, & human peaceinmy...I'm glad I checked back.

It's not logical to kill everyone who disagrees with America. Which extremist would you kill? The one wearing the suicide bomb or the one thinking about doing it? We trashed Iraq and have a responsibility to repair it. We may have to leave for a period of time and get a coalition together to get that done. The Mideast is better off without Bush and his oil buddies. Have you seen US crime, poverty, and lack of health-care? That's our cue to clean up our own streets before we go bomb someone else's.

No, let's declare victory instead...and then leave. We did what we set out to do already. Do we need to stay and make Iraq a 51st state?

No, we ought to repair infrastructure we've damaged and train countries to take care of themselves. Then we can get out of there and worry about issues at home.

If people truly supported the troops, they'd make the government pull out of the war based on lies.
