They are only similar if that's all you cook. We have turkey and ham for Thanksgiving and Duck for Christmas. We also try to change what we fix to go with it, somethings are the same, but most is different.

Not in our home. We have a huge spread at Thanksgiving. We have a meat and cheese tray, veggie platter, fruit platter. Of course we have the usual stuffing, cranberry sauce, usually two or three kinds of veggies and two kinds of potatos. There is the turkey and I always make two kinds of pie.
Christmas is different. We have a cheese and meat tray on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day we have a roast and bread with some veggies. I bake in the days leading up to Christmas so we have an assortment of cookies and fudge. That is it. We don't have a giant spread and we don't do turkey.

lol totally!! Makes you wonder if the reason is the lack of imagination or dishes that just couldn't have been assigned for each holiday lol. Oh wells, I enoy the food, I just wish the holidays, thanksgiving and christmas woudln't come so close. After CHristmas we have to spend another 11 months before we can have the "holiday" dinenr again. Happy Holidays and Enjoy the food lol. ;)

Not really
both are feast so they both have lots of food.
They are close in season so it's easy to get the same fruits and veggies, because they are still in season for both holidays.
plus it really depends on who's cooking the meals, some people fix things for one holiday that they wouldn't for the other.

why wouldnt it be, both are a celebration of a new start, i.e. Jesus birth (despite it not being in december) and the pilgrims trip to america.
Merry Christmas and happy new year
