Generally a bank doesn't care what your credit is like when you open a checking account. I doubt though they would let you open one with a balance of $1, since your checks would cost more than that to be printed. Some banks have a minimum amount to be deposited to open an account.

Bad credit has nothing to do with opening a checking account.

Most banks and credit unions now do a credit check and telecheck (ChexSystems) before approving your checking account application. Try to find a bank and or credit union that do not check your credit history, or some credit unions allow you to open a savings account regardless of your credit history.

They don't check your credit when opening a checking account, but you'll probably have to look hard to find a bank with an opening balance below about $25....but you might if you look hard enough.

Not that I know of, most have a minimum opening balance of $25 or $50.
