What's the best way to post my resume online so that it is searchable by my name?

The best way would probably be to get a domain that is your actual name (e.g. www.johndoe.com) and then post your resume there. You'll have no other competition on the site that way, plus it's easy to refer potential employers rather than having to mail or fax it to them. Plus, if your site is indexed by the search engines, you'll show up in Google (if that's what you want, there are ways to keep search engines from indexing your site) making it possible for more people to find you.

Obviously if you do this you don't want to post any more personal info than you absolutely have to, just in case someone stumbles onto your site or the search engines get it. You could also think about perhaps password protecting your site so that all the information is only seen by potential employers and then you could post anything and everything about yourself and be reasonably sure it's safe.

EDIT: I note you mentioned you want it "for free." Ok, then you can register your domain name at 1and1.com for $5.99 and set up a website at 110mb.com. The website at 110mb.com is completely free and has no advertising so the only thing you'll pay for is the domain name and that's only $5.99 for a year. Yes, I know it's not "free" but it's awful close.

Best way to have your resume search able is to create a simple web page with your resume. Most important to make your resume search able is the keywords that you are using. This will help the search engine spider to index your web page for correct words.
