Hello I'm 18 years old I started wearing make up at 17 but I'm completely new with powder foundation. I used to wear liquid ones. I am just kinda wondering how often are you supposed to clean the foundation sponge? and How?

you dont clean the sponge just buy new ones. i get the wedges they work best for getting in the corners. i change them when they start to break. maybe once a month. I use liquid cause im pale and it looks more natural in clinique soft linen. But powder foundation wouldn't you use a brush. or are you talking about powder finish makeup. I used that in meral norman

ok I am a little confused. You used to wear liquid foundations but now you've switched to powder ones? Are you talking about the foundations that are liquid to powder? Because then I can understand using a sponge with them. If you're using strictly a powder foundation then you would need a brush. The sponges you can buy in bulk in bags at the drugstore, you can keep using them until there is not a clean spot and when it gets worn out, i would just toss it and use another one. I don't like the sponges because they soak up too much foundation which can be wasteful, i like using a foundation brush which can be used repeatedly, just wash it in mild soap- like baby shampoo, rinse with warm water, squeeze out and then let it air dry.

I use a sponge for liquid and powder based foundations. You need to clean these at least once a week. Just wash with a little liquid soap and let air dry over night. If you don't keep your sponge clean, you'll spread oils and dirt back onto your face.

Good question and based on the other answers, something that everyone needs to know about.

mmmk you're a little confused i think....you're supposed to use a liquid foundation and then set it with powder...the powder isn't really an alternative, although you can use it by itself if your face is oily. you should change the sponge every other month or so, and you can buy refills in the cosmetics section at the store...i hope this helps!!

depends on your skin and how oily it is. i would say once a week to once a month. if you use the triangle type sponges i would just use them until they are all makeupy and then toss them for another, they are considered disposable. if you are using a sea sponge makeup sponge then use mild soap and water, lightly squeeze water out and air dry.
