Absolutely. I need 6-8 hours of sleep to function normally on a daily basis. I only pulled one all nighter my whole life (I stayed up 32 hours 2 weeks ago to study for my finals for Beef Production and Comparative Societies and aced them both!), and the only time I'd ever stay up all night would be to study for finals so I could ace them. I felt like crap the next day, but it was worth it a week later when I got my grade back.

Your heart, brain, and body NEED the sleep, even if YOU don't feel that you need it. Lack of sleep is harmful to your immune system/compromises it somewhat and you functioning properly at 100%.

No, but it does help, and it depends on the quality of sleep as well. How much sleep varies according to the person. How much sleep they need.

No, we don't have to, but it is better if we do.
Funny place to put this question, seeing as how I've seen a few people on this site for 60 hours in a row.
