I'm a freshman at a good college. I was thinking of taking the semester off and transfering cause I don't like it. Is that a stupid idea?

Not at all. You are beginning your education. It does depend on your financial situation. Can you afford to take the time off? Do you know what you want to go into? Are your parents supportive of you doing so?
While you are taking time off don't be idle. Have some plan of what you will do with the time. Will you work? There is a program on PBS which deals with young people traveling about the country trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives.called (something)Nation. Sorry, I can't at present recall the entire name.
If you have the time and money I suggest you travel about and talk to people. Do volunteer work. Flip burgers. Spend time with people in various occupations. Ask questions. Visit the library and research vocations.
If nothing else check out the armed services. They will train you in various jobs and later help pay your college, etc..
If you're looking for a good college I suggest McKendree College where I went. It is excellent and a best buy in higher education according to US News and World Report for several years. That's my opinion, but I found they care about their students even after graduation.

Unless their is an issue with money, then you shouldn't take off a semester. Just transfer next fall. Sometimes freshman students have a hard time adjusting the 1st semester. Try it again next semester and if you still do not like it, transfer.

no no no. no breaks. just go for a year, and set up ur transfer situation during spring semester and after summer break u will be fresh for fall at a new school. and u can attend all the dumb orientation type bs and learn about ur new school like all the other ppl new there. its easier to keep a ball rolling than to stop and start again. cut back ur credit hrs if u need to but try not to stop.

that depends. since you don't like the school, are you just going to goof off and not try..that will screw up your GPA like you never thought possible and it will be HARD to bring back up..If you really don't want to study don't go..take time off decide what you want, go to work and then transfer..or go part time so you won't be so tired. (online classes)...I went my first sem (and hated it) and my second and by then I hated everything. Took some time off and at 35 now know what I want and I am working toward that. I don't suggest you waiting that long but nobody can tell you when to go to school or what to do..college means maturity...and making your own decisions.

You should at least stay for a year. If you still don't like it then transfer. However, don't transfer because of people that you don't like or you don't have as many friends as you like. Sometimes that can be a good thing

remember to flow out and depart your boyfriend, yet stay at school if in any respect obtainable. in line with threat attempt college area time. basically take a variety or 2 in the morning or at night after which you're able to have something of the day obtainable to artwork. I knew somebody who went to a 4 12 months college area time and that they graduated in six years. no longer undesirable in case you inquire from me. people who flow area time tend to graduate with much less or no debt additionally. in case you had a foul semester you're able to additionally stay at school to get your GPA returned up as quickly as you could.
