The pouch is supposed to hold the cup, so your penis goes behind the cup for protection, i'm a catcher and and have taken a couple of bouncers, i don't want to imagine what it would feel like without it... even some ground balls in the infield can take a bad bounce so it's a good idea to have that protection (of course no one's gonna hit you with a bat...)

The pouch is for the cup. The cup covers the penis for protection. Without the cup installed, it fits behind.

You stuff the dick and the balls securely into the pouch. No other way.
this is how you use the regular jock. not the plastic cup.
