My mom's 42 and people still think she's 30 because of her looks and her fashion sense. You can get fashionable yet appropriate clothing at Express, The Limited, and New York & Company. Try them!

My mom shops at Ann Taylor, J. Jill - they're a little stuffy for my taste, but for special occasions, they do have some beautiful clothes. If you're a good bargain shopper, you can end up with some really great finds from those stores.

Personally, I would go to Express, H&M, American Apparel, and Urban Outfitters. Express is especially great for jeans - I love them! They use high-quality fabrics so they won't wear out too easily. H&M is really great - for every budget! It's a European store, and can really fit a variety of styles. It's very inexpensive (without being cheap - it's good quality!) and is very stylish. American Apparel is better for the very casual days - weekend clothes. Although they specialize in regular t-shirts and skirts, they also have interesting finds like metallic bathing suits and other things. The great thing about this store is that it offers up to two dozen colors of each style! It's very cool. :D Urban Outfitters is a bit on the more whimsical, unique side, but don't worry if at first it seems it's not for you. Keep looking through the store / website and something you'll like will pop up!

You'll be able to find good looks at any department store, such as Macy's.. if you've got a little extra dough to spend Ann Taylor's Loft is classic.. if you're on a budget try someplace like Kohl's or even Target!

New York and Co. is AMAZING for "mom type" clothes. Whatever you do, none of those tapered "mom jeans" that go up to the belly button. You can still dress good and be a mom. My mom has three pains in the @$$ and dresses amazingly.
