Carpet Bugs? My boyfriend was lying down on the carpet in the area that he likes to sit to eat but he doesn’t make a mess. When he got up from the carpet he had a lot of bits they look like bed bugs. We never been bitten by anything before so I’m not sure what it was. We live in New York in an area where there are a lot of trees but during this time of the year you don’t see hardly any type of bugs because it is starting to get cold. I just want to know what we should do and what kind of bug is it?

thx.

we don't have any animals in the apartment and only my boyfriend and I live here and we are clean. The building that we live in was buit in the 1940's but it is decently maintained by our managment company.

hate to harp, but, it still could be fleas. They can live a year after being hatched without food (dormant). As soon as a blood source arrives (boy friend) they feed and multiply. Takes weeks to get rid of them. Try exposing your bare arm on the carpet. If there are fleas they will jump on.

Could possibly be fleas? Do you have a pet, how long have you lived in the apartment? Fleas eggs can remain in carpeting for months before hatching and turning into adults. The best way to get rid of them is to get an insect bomb, available at grocery stores, make sure that it lists fleas. You have to be out of the house for several hours, then come home and open windows to air it out. Vacuum thoroughly, make sure that the filter bag is empty, this will ensure more suction. After vacuuming, you need to discard of the filter bag outside. Just in case there are still any live fleas inside. Good luck
