I am custom building some Oakley Sunglasses, and for twenty dollars I can put up to fourteen characters, just enough for my first and last name.

My friends say that its kind of odd to have you name in them.

It only shows up in one lens, and I think it is too small to affect my vision..

What do you think?

Oakely Sunglass are quite expensive, especially custom built ones. Twenty bucks is minor compared to what the glasses are costing. I'd DEFINITELY get your name engraved...in case they get left somewhere. If your friends were paying that much for Oakely's, they'd get their name on them too. They probably don't realize how small the name is going to be.

Great idea...congrats on the Oakley's.

Merry Christmas!!

It might look pretentious. On the other hand, if that's the point of custom making your sunglasses, then go for it. But to be completely honest, I would take one look and say, that's someone who wasted money. Then again, that's how I feel whenever I see anything monogrammed.

I will not do that as it does not serve any purpose - For identification, it is too tiny thus is a waste of money.

Trust you also not really like to do it by asking this question. Hope you could make the right decision.

I think it's a great idea, that case if you lose them the person MIGHT be kind enough to find out whose they are and return them.

I'm with your friends. First & last name seems too formal, or egotistic. Just your first name or a nick name comes across as more fun to me.
