You don't have to tell her you're gay, if it'll help avoid the awkward moment. Tell her...you're currently in a relationship. She'll back off, if she's normal. If she persists, tell her (a little bit harshly) that you're just not interested, and to back off.
Oh, and ignore those retards that answered before me...geez...

When a girl asks me out it always makes my day. I handle it by telling her I'm gay, or just by telling her I'm already seeing someone (which I am). It's just best to tell women that you're gay... and while your at it, if you can compliment them and make them feel good about themselves, all the better.

I usually laugh first, and say you're joking right? I don't think we're compatable. Rejection is something she should be used to as I don't think many guys would like a girl who is so aggressive.

If her cousin doesn't know you very well, then she's probably just messing with you. Either that or you are drop dead gorgeous. Ahah! Anyways, I say if she can't accept the fact that you're gay, or if ANYBODY ELSE can't accept that, then you don't need people like that in your life.

Just remember, its always a compliment, and you can't help how others feel.
You did the right and correct thing. Their reactions were honest and they just didn't believe someone so cute would be unavailable. : )
